Living Out First: Jesus First

Day 8: Colossians 2:6-7

Jesus First – it’s the first core value at Crossing Place Church. Simply put though – it should also be the top value for anyone who follows Christ and is family in the faith.

The Word has much to say about making Jesus our top priority. Today though, we’ll narrow our focus to some important verses in Colossians 2.

Without roots it is impossible for anything to grow! The roots of a plant must be deep within the soil of the earth, watered and receiving the proper amount of sunlight as well as the right nutrition or it will eventually die.

These elements must be present or the plant will not be able to reproduce fruit. Therefore, it will become useless and decease. When this happens, it is impossible for a plant to reach its God given potential of reproducing fruit.

Likewise, we must be planted deep within the foundation of the Word of God in order to prosper and produce fruit. We too must be reproducers of ourselves in a Christ-like manner in order to fulfill our God given destiny upon this earth.

We must always be ready to give others the reason of the hope that is within us (1 Peter 3:15). The fullness of Christ in us is only accomplished by being a doer of the Word and not just hearing it without action.

“Jesus said to the people who believed in him, ‘You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings’ - John 8:31

Ask yourself today: Are you rooted and grounded in the Word of God, ready to give an answer to anyone who questions you about your salvation in Jesus Christ?
